Green Bay Packers' 2007 "Unofficial" Salary Cap
'rule-of 51' is in effect... Saturday, April 14: Len Pasquarelli wrote in his 13 April 2007 "tip sheet" that the Packers were $15.8m under the salary cap. The number is, of course, a "rounded" number. Based on that and MJSO reporting, I've had to make several adjustments to previous WAGs to match.
- Nick Barnett, obviously, was the major factor in reducing the number from ~$21.8m. Tom Silverstein was kind enough to tell me via email that Barnett's 2007 cap figure is ~$7.6m which means $458,571 of prorated signing bonus from Barnett's rookie contract is included and that $458,571 will be included in 2008 and 2009 cap values.
- Charles Woodson - A $572k difference between 20 December 2006 reporting and 10 April 2007 MJSO reporting. I always presumed his projected "game day" roster bonus of $56k should be included and it appears the 10 April figure accounts for it. My calculations for his LTBE breakout are $1m guaranteed roster/reporting bonus, $896k "game day" roster bonus ($56k * 16), $100k workout bonus, and $14k additional miscellaneous bonus.
- Tom Silverstein is pretty sure that Donnell Washington ($177k), Mark Roman ($175k), and B.J. Sander ($145k) were not absorbed in the 2006 salary cap, so I've put them back in this edition.
- Additional differences are highlighted with green background.
